About SJCC
St. Joseph’s College of Commerce (SJCC), formerly a part of St. Joseph’s College, established in the year 1882, is managed by the Bangalore Jesuit Educational Society (BJES). The BJES is a unit of a Catholic religious order called the Society of Jesus, founded by St. Ignatius of Loyola in 1540. The Department of Commerce was established at St. Joseph’s College in the year 1949, which later became an independent college with its building on Brigade Road in the year 1972.
The college was graded an ‘A’ grade in the years 2007 and 2012. And recently, in February 2021, the college was re-accredited with an ‘A++’ grade and a CGPA of 3.57/4. SJCC is one of the first colleges in Karnataka and the very few institutions in the country to have secured an A++ grade in the fourth cycle under the Revised Accreditation Framework (RAF). In 2010, the college was declared a ‘College with Potential for Excellence’. In 2011, SJCC was recognised as a Research Centre by Bengaluru City University. The college is ranked 55th in the National Institutional Ranking Framework (NIRF) ratings of the Ministry of Education, Government of India in 2024.
